義大利女數學家Maria Gaetana Agnesi的微積分人生
今天是義大利數學家與哲學家 Maria Gaetana Agnesi 瑪利亞·阿涅西女士的296歲誕辰，Google Doodle以極簡的線條畫出 Agnesi Curve（箕舌線），紀念她撰寫了世界上第一本微積分教科書，讓莘莘學子在求學期間認識微積分的美麗與哀愁。
Maria Gaetana Agnesi 1718年誕生於義大利，父親是個數學家，她也從小展現過人的天賦，在父親舉辦的聚會中以多國語言講授數學、自然科學、哲學議題，並倡導女性受高等教育的權利。1738年將這系列的討論出版成一套關於自然科學和哲學的文集《哲學命題》（Propositiones Philosophicae），1748年，撰寫數學著作《Analytical Institutions for the Use of Italian Youth》（Instituzioni analitiche ad uso della gioventù italiana），在其中發表了微積分的 Agnesi Curve，又有女巫曲線之稱。1750年，由於其卓越的學術成就，任命為University of Bologna的數學與自然哲學系的系主任，成為歷史上第二位成為大學教授的女性。
