文氏圖（Venn Diagram）是由 John Venn 約翰維恩創造出來的集合歸類方法，John Venn (1834-1923) 是英國的數學家、邏輯學家、哲學家，於劍橋大學任教。根據維基百科介紹，1880年7月，John Venn 在其論文〈On the Diagrammatic and Mechanical Representation of Propositions and Reasonings〉上介紹他自創的集合歸類方法，並引用至他1881年的專書著作《Symbolic Logic》之中。有關更多John Venn的生平介紹，請詳見線上百科全書 Encyclopaedia Britannica Online、Gale Virtual Reference Library。
