EndNote Output Style修改─Citations、Bibliography、Footnotes的Author Lists與Editor Lists

在Output Style修改中，Author Lists 與 Editor Lists 是定義當一筆文獻有多位作者或編輯時，其名稱之間的連結符號、是否列出所有作者、或僅列出前N位作者其餘用特定符號代替(常見為et al.)。在三處有此Lists設定，包括：Citations(引註)、Bibliography(參考文獻)、Footnotes(註腳)，設定的位置如下：

雖然Bibliography 和 Footnotes 多了Editor Lists選項，但三處的設定大致類似，以下將分別介紹。

一、Citations

定義引註處格式。主要分為 Author Separators 和 Abbreviated Author List 兩處設定，如下：

Author Separators 是定義多位作者名之間的連接符號，區分為最後一位作者與前作者間(before last)、以及其餘作者間(between)可設定以不同的符號連結。另外，因自X5版新增功能後引註格式可以為 Author(Year)，因此後方特別增加「before last in format: Author (Year)」，用以區分與一般 (Author, Year )引註格式之別。以上圖的設定方式為例，在不同的狀況下可分別呈現citation的作者清單如下：

Abbreviated Author List 是定義列出的作者數、與被省略作者之替代文字，各項目意義如下：

  • List all author names：無論作者數量，全部列出。
  • If X or more authors, list the first Y author(s), and abbreviate with Z：
    當作者數量達到 X 以上時，僅列出前 Y 位作者，其餘以 Z 替代。
    Z 通常為「et al.」，可用斜體 (勾選Italic)呈現。
  • Abbreviated Author List 又分為 First Appearance 和 Subsequent Appearance，分別定義引用相同作者群第一次和第二次以上。因部分引註格式規定，在多次引用相同作者群的文獻時，第一次和第二次以上列出的人名數不同。同樣以前設定圖示為例，不同狀況可分別呈現citation的作者清單如下：

 

二、Bibliography

定義參考文獻處格式。包含 Author Lists 和 Editor Lists，其實內容與【Citations】處相似，主要分為 Author Separators 和 Abbreviated Author List 兩處設定。另外 Author Lists 多了「For Subsequent Works by the Same Author」，也類似【Citations】處的 Subsequent Appearance。

  • Author Separators：定義多位作者名之間的連接符號，請參考前述【Citation】處。但因參考文獻沒有Author(Year)的區別，因此更單純。
  • Abbreviated Author List：
    • 前兩項「List all author names」和「If X or more authors,…」請參考前述【Citation】處。
    • If eight or more authors, list the first 6 authors, insert T, and add the last author’s name：
      如果有8位以上作者，列出前6位，其後以 T 替代，並在結尾加上最後一位作者名。
      T 通常為「, . . .」
  • Author Lists 的 For Subsequent Works by the Same Author：
    第二次引用相同作者群的文章時的作者呈現方式。

    • Print the author list as defined above：不作特殊呈現，如同第一次引用。
    • Omit the author list：不呈現作者欄位。
    • Replace repeated authors with：用其他符號或字元替代作者欄位，通常為「—」。

 

三、Footnotes

定義註腳處引用的格式。內容與【Bibliography】處幾乎完全相同，請參考【Bibliography】處之說明。唯一的不同是【Footnotes】增加了 Short Form 格式。因為某些引註格式中規定，當 footnotes 多次引用相同書目時，第二次以後呈現的格式需與第一次不同，因此這裡的 short form 就是定義相同書目引用第兩次以上的作者名或編輯名格式呈現。

如果要使用 Short form，除了要在 Author Lists 和 Editor Lists 定義 Short form 的格式外，另外要在【Footnotes】下的「Repeated Citations」，將「If the Same Reference Repeats in Consecutive Citations」指定為「Use short form」，如下：

修改完畢，記得點選左上角 File→Save 或 Save As 以儲存修改喔。
